Antenatal Care
We are part of the government Combined Care Scheme which enables women to 6 free antenatal visits and 2 post natal visits to check their health and their baby’s.
Blood Tests
Are done every morning by our Practice Nurse and sent by courier to St James’s Hospital. We securely download the results from the hospital lab website straight into your patient file.
Cervical Smear Tests
These are available FREE for eligible women between the ages of 25 and 60 and are carried out by our Nurse most afternoons. To register for your free smear test please ring 1800 454555. Upon receipt of a smear call letter you can then avail of this service at Ranelagh Medical. We also offer private smear tests for any woman outside the above criteria.
Child Vaccinations
We are approved by the HSE to give all childhood vaccinations.
Cryotherapy
An effective way of getting rid of warts quickly using liquid nitrogen. Most cases will be covered by private health insurance e.g. Vhi, Quinn, Hibernian.
Dietician
We have a resident dietician who is here to advise you on all aspects of weight control and diet/nutrition issues. Book an appointment today!
ECG’s
If an ECG is requested by one of our doctors this can be carried out generally on the day by our nurse.
Family Planning
We provide contraception advice and prescriptions for The Pill, Implanon, Depo-provera as well as Mirena coil insertion.
Full Medical Check
We provide a comprehensive Medical Check-Up service for both men and women which includes a full written report summarising your current state of health. The full cost of this may be covered by your private health insurance. More details are available here.
Gardasil Vaccination
A course of 3 vaccinations over 6 months is recommended for girls/women aged between 9 and 26 to prevent Cervical Cancer. We have negotiated a significant discount for this vaccine.
Mole Mapping
A Mole Mapping technician visits the practice regularly to take close-up photographs which can monitor any suspicious moles you may have. Ask your doctor for more information.
P.A.D. (Peripheral Arteria Disease) Testing
This is a test for Peripheral Arterial Disease – (hardening of the arteries). This is a totally painless test involving pressure recordings involving the arm and the leg carried out by our nurse.
Saturday Mornings
For your convenience, we are now open on Saturdays from 10am to 1pm.
Skin Surgery For Lumps And Bumps
We have a comprehensive skin assessment and treatment service to deal with suspected skin cancers or any lesions on the skin you need advice on.
Sleep Apnoea Testing
Do you or your partner snore? Feel tired all day? You may be at risk of sleep apnoea and our simple overnight test may be what you need. Talk to one of our doctors.
Sports Medcine Clinic
Dr Justin Smyth conducts a Sports Medicine Clinic on Tuesday afternoons for any sports related conditions or injuries you might have.
STD Screening
We provide a confidential screening service for all major sexually transmitted infections.
Travel Vaccination
We offer a comprehensive pre-travel health check, vaccination and travel advice service. Ranelagh Medical is a registered Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre.
Urine Tests
Can be done anytime by our Practice Nurse to check for infections such as cystitis/UTI as well as checking for pregnancy and kidney problems.

Justin Blake BSc MChSI SRCh
Justin Blake is now providing the podiatry service in Ranelagh Medical. Justin has a particular interest in running, postural and lower back problems. He successfully treats sportsmen and women from recreational to professional athletes, including: runners, gaelic players, hurlers, footballers, rugby players, golfers, athletes, cyclists, dancers, skaters and members of the Irish Army.
